My God.

I dont know how to sum up ALL that I want to use to describe Ben . . . . . . . . and his series.
Or then again just him. MY . . . . . . . . GOD.

Where to begin . . . . .

Okay, for starters,


HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT JUSTIFYING TRYING TO BEAT/KILL YOUR BEST FRIEND AFTER HE SACRIFICED HIS SANITY FOR YOUR SAFETY!? SERIOUSLY!?


Kevin clearly STATES that Absorbing energy is a bad idea - that he enjoys the smile on Gwen`s face when she's happy - or just the fact that he clearly enjoys life MORE when he's around those two.
Not to mention ALL OF THE ## THAT THEY'VE BEEN THROUGH TOGETHER. Kevin has shown an UNPRECEDENTED AMOUNT OF TIMES of how much faith he has in Ben's abilities. Its so much that if you dont notice, you dont deserve to watch this show. His faith in Ben's hardiness and ability to persevere no matter the situation is completely Humbling.....


But to have Ben Turncoat SO FAST without even ONCE considering that Gwen is right and to tread upon the KevinLevin Monster problem with a different approach is just....

After all the times they've saved each other, sacrificed for one another . . . .


Its MORBIDLY DISAPPOINTING.



But that's just my review of the last couple of episodes.



Honestly . . . . . .

TRUELY AND HONESTLY.

His personality was miswritten after the Ben 10 Arc.
Its inconsistent and goes into extremes.

I'll give an example:

Ben 10 Arc:
The Whimsical Lone Wolf

In this, Ben is the ABSOLUTE perfect kind of personality I love in a main character.

He loves wisecracks and is not too shy on going his own path.

He writes his own rules and takes every minute of his life by the minute, never really planning too far in the future. Unless its a Sumo Slammer Movie thats gonna come out in the next few weeks.

He has a love-hate relationship with his cousin which is great comic relief and lightens the mood when needed. But with all of this, He accepts the role of the hero and loves it TREMENDOUSLY. Driven to help others and even MORE driven when given the incentive to GO HERO, he goes all out to help those in need - while also causing destruction in his wake.


You just know a character is cool when an Explosion is heard and the next question that is on ANYONES mind after "WHAT WAS THAT!?" is "WAIT?! WHERE'S BEN?!?"
Ah. Cant keep awesome from me. It just follows me wherever I go.


Alien Force Arc:
The White Knight Shell

This change makes ya wonder if you're still watching the same series.

I came in on Alien Force when I first started this series and I thought that it was THIS particular personality that was the typical default. Boy was I wrong.
Ben in this Arc is a polar opposite of the Ben 10 Arc in the personality color spectrum.

He's Driven, He's straightforward. He knows whats right.
And he is totally BOOOOOORING.

I know with the whole Grandpa Max thing, he had to grow up. I understand that.

But seriously, When Kevin is making funny faces in a diner sticking straws up his nose, and YOU'RE the one turning away in embarrassment, I think there's some inconsistency there.

Especially when you're the one known for trying to take it a step further by putting Carrots in your ears as well.


He has a very straight forward White Knight complex here.
No jokes, no time for them. Its strictly business.
He is noble in what he does, choosing to take care of an issue in the most heroic fashion. There's nothing wrong with that either. Its just that I miss the creativity, fire, and fun he passionately put in everything he did.

Its so pale and dry.
But he gets the job done.
And I guess thats the idea that the writers were going for.




Ultimate Alien Arc:
. . . . . Arrogant. Suffocatingly and uncomfortably Arrogant.
its so repugnant it kills.


Someone please. Please kill him.
I assure you, He will not be missed.

If the level for the type of conceited hero for the Ben 10 arc was at a pleasant 7/10 . . . . MY GAAAAAWD!!!
THIS ONE IS AT A HORRIFYING 30!!!

I mean they seriously kicked that perso-nalitmiter up into the RED-ZONE!

So much that the spring popped off and hit your grandmother in the face!

WHO DITCHES THEIR GIRLFRIEND'S MATCH TO GO SEE A MOVIE!? SERIOUSLY!?!?!
Ya know there's something you could say about that situation......but its only adult stuff that cannot be said here.
However most of you will get it once I say: If you HONESTLY did something SO STUPID like that to YOUR girlfriend . . . . . . you will be lonely for the rest of your life.
His Brashness x10
His arrogance x10
His Narcissism x10
His overall Personality soup x10 MORE CONCENTRATED!!!

Honestly, I dont know WHO dropped the ball here. Its not Ben's falt. Its more or less a fault in writing. I mean there were some points when they unnecessarily kept getting in some fights when it just wasnt needed.

That time when Ben meets his younger self for the first time they got into a full out brawl. Why wasnt a concern brought up when Ben saw this "other guy" use a similar device to change into an alien with the same sort of logo on his chest.


But whateves. That whole sequence was for fanboys.
Same reason why they had Rex and Ben go at it not too soon after they met.

But like I said, Its not Ben's fault. I didnt mind the series and I'm glad I'm caught up on the Benatic stuff.


It's just that I'm disappointed with the writing......

But Like I said. I liked the series. I LOOOOVED Episode 18 of Season 3 of Alien Force.
It was just for a spell, that day.
That I fell in love.

. . . . . but it was all over by the rolling credits. Disappoint.

Whoa. I don't know why but this is one of the most interesting
threads I've read in a LONG time.
I agree with lots of aspects.
Ben 10 (original) was WAAAAY more 'fun' and dare I say...
action packed and humorous with more personality, more story, nearly everything was better.

BUT I do have to say, I haven't watched many Ben 10 Alien Force
episodes, AND the ones I did watch, I didn't watch properly. (Or so I believe according to memory.)
At worst, it could be that the personality shift (and maybe the darkness of the art work and other stuff) was so bad that I denied the fact I watched it properly but it could just be me
not giving it a good go yet. (Most likely the second one. Hopefully.)

When I have time for cartoons and stuff (welcome to the world of never )
I'll be sure to check out the other Ben 10 series and even episodes I missed from Ben 10 (original.).
I really liked the original Ben 10 series, it was brilliant.
It wasn't just 'another cartoon', it was like the next, Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Lab,
Cow and Chicken, I am Weasel, etc. You know what I mean? The genius, classic, cartoon with nice artwork.
It was (and still is) a very original, and serious (yet humorous and fun)
animated series that you would really like to watch on Christmas. Ya know?

Huh, I kinda liked the 2nd half of season 1 of UA. Better than most of the second season. They were epic, had Ultimate Echo Echo's first appearance (Something that I've been waiting for since the show started. His sudden voice change was unexpected, though), Ultimate Aggregor, Celestialsapiens and 10-year old Ben.

To me, most the 2nd season was... boring. Especially once it got to the Forever Knight arc. It did get pretty good. And it did show more of the history of the Omnitrix and Master-I mean Sword of Ascalon. And other episodes had Ben obtaining ChamAlien, Ultimate Way Big and Rath arguing with a Plumber Ship.

As for Alien Force, your favourite episode of season 3 is Vendetta, right? Mine's Con of Rath (For obvious reasons), but Vendetta is also good. In all, I loved 99% of Alien Force. I didn't like it AT FIRST, thus my first guide back in 2009 was Dexter. I didn't like the new looks, the fact Kevin joined with Ben and Gwen etc. Then it aired here a few months later, and I actually liked it.

Exactly the same for Omniverse. Speaking of Omniverse, I'm sure you'd like it. It's less serious and more like the original series and Alien Force together. Ben gets the wrong alien a lot more (Though that's Ben's fault. Azmuth fixed all the glitches) etc.

Yeah i did feel the change from ben to to ultimate.But overrall the series is still going strong

For me, if you didn't like Alien Force plot wise, Ultimate Alien isn't gonna make much difference.
