Okay, you know how I've been talking about recreating the game lately. Well we shoul make our own game similar to Fusionfall, "Gagetfall". Have similar characters an villains. We should use this program http://www.3drad.com/. FF will stay no matter how we save it #savefusionfall. (that is now my motto when i'm talking about reviving FF)

Let's go with that. Though I think everyone would have to pitch in to the story, characters, map designs, music, concept art, items 


Impressed   it sounds so exciting, but you guys would take a year just to find the codes. make the variables, etc.

Lol I really  doubt anyone's going to do anything, we'll just talk about it for a day or 2, then forget about it. Since no one here can actually make a game let alone have the patience equipment time or anything to do anything.  It'd be fun but no one's going to look that into it.

no offense, but its true omg dude lets make new ff cool lets plan it out, no one will do it unless someone takes the first steps but almost nobody here knows how to even program.

EXACTLY! No one here knows how to program. That is why we will learn Unity. Unity uses minimal programing and there are hundreds of tutorials on Youtube. That's how take the first steps.

I could make a game...
If I had time.
BUT, my main problem is the camera for third person games.

Now, I managed to get it decent in my game Escape To Foster's Home:

But I don't remember how I did it. (Made it when I was like I dunno 13 or 14.  I'm 17 now.  SSmile )
BUT, if you get the camera sorted, I could make some decent maps in no time.  Smile 
My current camera in Unity is messed up, my imported character moves
like in a circle and the camera isn't fixed to the character properly, as well as
the fact I don't know how to apply certain animations to certain
actions.  E.g. jump animation to jump action via space bar.
I guess it requires some sort of javascript...which I don't do.  Seriously
Heck, I hardly do any scripting. It's like maths. And I....HATE....Troll Face
Yet love science...  Crying2(Weird combination, good at science, bad at maths...oh well.)

Gadgetfall wouldn't be a name I'd choose in my project.
One of my projects was going to be called Sky Raid.  Sure Lol
Never worked out. It's always compilation error this and scripting problems that.
I hate 3D work.  It's so time consuming.
But I don't mind animations and general level design too much.
Not that I could help you but if you get Wilttilt to help you get a good camera system for third person,
I'll happily gather some time for a quick test game.

I don't know what name you'd come up with but...
You could use 3D model rips of the characters XLR8 147, Oliver Zombieweasel and Hom Choi.
But that's only 3 of the supposed 7 Legends...  Impressed 
And this project would take too much work.

It works nicely with capsules I think but if you use a proper 3D character model,
it's messed up. :/
Or maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I've even tried adding the model to an empty game object but
it still behaves weirdly.  ._.

My two main problems are:

1. I don't know how to assign animations to actions.  (Playing the walk animation ONLY when walking,
stop walking when idle and play the jump animation when jumping.)

2. The camera is not properly fixed to the character, the character sways left and right when
the direction changes horizontally. Also, the character doesn't rotate properly.
When moving forward, the model is shown backwards moving forward Suspect
and when moving left, the character is at too much distance to the left, same with the right. :/

If you know how to fix either, tell me. Smile

Sure anyone with some experience can make something that APPEARS pretty, but behind the smoke and mirrors is nothing but a cardboard backdrop. The fact is that without some experienced coder(s) helping you guys, you're gonna fall flat. Heck, my little "demo" project was a basic, slightly modified script from Unity that allowed me to move around with animation. I had no inventory, nanos, health, etc. All the NPCs were just models set to animate. Literally the only things I had going for mine was a complex idea and some models, which were mostly by CN, just re-purposed by myself.

You will need tons of time and work with unity I would be willing to help if I knew what I was doing and had any idea about unity. I tried it for 1 day only and managed to get ground with texture that was it. So if you could find the time to watch some tutorials and really take this matter serious with a bunch of free time on your hands I think just maybe you could possibly get something running. What that would be would depend on the success rate of what your where working on and if you know what you are doing and really put the hardest effort into this project instead of having the mind set of Lets make a game when it could be, here comes some idea I want to create with full story and get everything running smoothly for others to see this and have a bunch of laughs and good times. But anything is pretty much better then making a flash game which are cheaper but are pretty boring. I would recommend making a flash game as a first step im not saying something complicated I mean 1-3 levels and see how that works out, then try unity. My question is are you using the free version or the priced version? priced adds a bunch more tools and options to it of course. You have to also make a decision whether the game is free or if you want to try to make a profit off of the game this would mean paying your whole development team which im sure would motivate them to work more knowing there is money involved for them if they got a working ''Awesome game'' with decent graphics and coding. As I wish you the best of luck I would like to see the outcome of this project. What just got into me... Woah

to be heavily corrupted, terrain textures missing, tonnes of script errors, the camera doesn't move anymore, I hope I have a backup somewhere....)

So what I'm trying to say is, as long as it's playable, people will accept it with open arms.
Especially if there are nice maps, ripped FF characters, jump pads, etc. etc.

Right now I don't think anyone really cares if it isn't solid enough to
be considered a proper game. Playability comes first. Smile

Would you mind telling us how you set up the camera or would you prefer to keep that
to yourself?  (If you composed/modified the script yourself, then I guess it's up to you to share or not.)

A good idea would be to create a template for anyone to use, put their own characters, maps, graphics or whatever in,
and see what games people come up with.
Initially there may be lame results but as people become more determined to improve and see potential in
their games, we'll start to see decent fan games.

But it's up to you Wilt.
I would have made a downloadable template but I don't currently have a decent camera setup.
So what's the point... Misery

The easiest language in my opinion is Javascript. It's similar to vb.net. Razz

I'm currently in progress of creating an Anime game and I must admit that it's not that hard.
You'll just need to create your own models (if you want) and capture your own motions and have everything in place. Once they are where they are, you're good to go! Smile
