Well, To put it bluntly........I'm self taught.
I learn by memorization. LOTS OF MEMORIZATION. Practice..........AND MEMORIZATION.
So, to summarize..........I really dont think I can teach you guys all that much. However, I COULD offer my advice based on Mark Crilley's videos.
Mark Crilley
For those not in the know, Mark crilley is a popular anime/comic artist that is growing ever popular due to his "How to Draw" videos.
Not sure how easy it is for you guys, but I'm way too lazy to draw characters the way he does. I sometimes do, but in other ways..............eh no. too many steps. But anyways without further ado, please enjoy the magic! NO! YOU DONT HAVE TO BE INTO ANIME TO LEARN SOMETHING FROM THIS. XCELL- R - ATE.

If you get the shakes due to lack of sugar and you cant seem to draw straight lines to save your life..........well...........I TOLD YOU SO!

Meh. Not really my favorite end result for a Shojo based character. personally I dont like the ones where they look innocent but deathly girlish looking.

My two cents: Personally, I may like doing Shojo based males.......but Shonen based ones are TONS more fun to do.
Another thing, these are all just tips and guidelines. You dont have to draw EXACTLY like this. After mastering how he draws it, feel free to do your own unique spin on it.
Take for instance the Shojo male.
I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE the pointed chin thingie. Its stupid and unrealistic. I prefer to go more realistic and just draw most of the basic head shapes sorta the same.........excluding of course giving one character a square jaw and others more of a smaller jaw line.....for individualistic purposes.
you dont want to stay locked into one style.

@Undelos: That's what I did. Just leave it until the last minute if you can. I always did my maths homework at night, and never studied for English as I wanted to punch Shakespeare in the face. Still do, actually.
Never studied for English, and yet it's better than my maths. Why are we needing school?

Lol it's okay... really romeo and juliet isn't that great... i mean it's good if you play up the real romantic, but they're only 13 sooo.....
but julius ceasar is actually pretty awesome, a lot more fighting and drama in that one xP (it's about politics, so go figure) lol

I like em too, these videos are pretty useful, Though, i did read a devianart journal from someone who doesn't like mark crilley, So i also have that perspective...
Mark crilley is awesome. He'll help you if you just want to try something different, Or you know, he's just cool to watch, and he iiis an amazing artist.
But what this article was saying, was that these videos don't actually teach you how to draw. (i mean i'm with you undy on how i've learned how to draw, just absorbing things from copying certain drawings and such) But that people who really want to draw should focus on learning how to draw techniques, not specific drawings. Like how to do things that apply to specific principals...
This is kinda why i just want to study how to draw realistic things, like bones and muscles so i can see how they'd move... then use it in my own art
But i son't think mark crilley is bad, I think he's pretty dang awesome actually..
But he's a good starting point

I've seen Mark Crilley's videos.
They're really informative, yet aren't specifically aimed towards the "new" drawer.
