Whoah. glad to see you're back to coloring!

It never really matters too much what program you use, just so long as you develop some skills with it.

Now that you're into photoshop, I think I can start giving you some advice from my personal experience.

First thing's first: dont be shy about making layers.

you can make up to about 70 before the computer starts to wonder what your problem is and starts to rage quit on you.

NEVER destroy or merge some layers.

Say for instance you have just the outline on a layer. DO NOT COLOR ON IT.

Make a duplicate of it, turn the original off, and color on the copy. Always leave a copy in case the one you mess up the first. Only a few times I have actually messed up the copy. but it doesnt hurt to cover your bases.

Also, you can always use the outlines as some sort of design later. Happy2

Save often.

If you dont have CS6, plz save often as you can remember. I have lost work a few times due to Automatic Updates and only twice to power outages.
CS6 took the guess work out of that and saves and recovers your lost work like a boss. but Until you get that, do it the olde fashioned way.

Double click layers to open the epic dialogue box

Dat is my bread and butter...............the reason I cant get the hang of GIMP or Paint Tool SAI. DAT DIALOUGE BOX HAS SOME BQUTIFUL effects in it. Play with them to find out what they do.

I'll even skype with you one day to show them off.

Right click is your right hand.

It has almost everything you want to use in one box. Right click often on anything to familarize yourself with whats at your fingertips. Some my have shortcuts that may give you excuses to never use the "File Edit Image Select" bar hardly ever again.

"Image > Adjustments = Profit."

I mainly use Levels and Hue and Saturation. you can use Hue and saturation to change colors on things. It will preserve the shading on whatever ya got. You can even drop the Lightness all the way down in the chat box all the way down to create a shadow.

Levels you can use to improve the lighting on a Line art, boost the color on a picture (did that alot with FusionFall pics) or any thing that you can imagine.

Love Hue & Saturation.

"Filter." Explore. eventually.

This was the first menu that I explored when I first got Ps. It has alot of interesting effects packed into this too. See what all of them do and be amazed.

I've been using photoshop on every colored image I uploaded here and deviantart.

I did, too. But it doesn't work on this computer. Thus why I use GIMP.
