...I swear, if they know so much about flipin' movies, they need to go make one of their own so they can show everyone ELSE how to be perfect.
Just to mention, this film is not suitable for children. We're not responsible lalalaalalaaa.
And Undelos....this is genius.
All those critics SHOULD make their own movies.
Of course not all critics are stuck up snobs each with an irrational analysis of all films they review.
But it's subjective so, apart from being rude and illogical, sometimes
you can't really say the critics are the bad guys so to speak.
I've said many times "THAT MOVIE IS TRASH! GARBAGE! RUBBISH! DISGUSTING! DISTASTEFUL! IDIOTIC!"
When most of the time it was truthfully more like "it could have been good but just a few
scenes ruined it for me." Or "It's not my cup of tea because I want action, not this girly stuff disguised
as 'neutral media'."
Or something else. Although sometimes a movie really is THAT bad.
When I make a 'movie' (truthfully I've never made a proper movie in my life,
I've never found the motivation to make a complete film with full editing and scripting, etc.)
I would get annoyed if someone was like "HA! That movie was laaaaame!"
you know....because it's not constructive, it's rude and it's unfair, especially since
I would put at least some of my time and effort into it.
But IMAGINE how it's like if you spent REAL MONEY on it,
risking bankruptcy, spending months and lots of collective effort on it.
I don't mean big pocket money. I mean millions.
Then the team would be even more hurt probably.
Although you could argue that it's a big team
that works on big movies and they kinda share and dilute the criticism
and individuals are behind a commercial barrier or something.
"It was the studio's fault! Not mine!" Or whatever.
But still. Harsh criticism is worse than useless. So shame on those people
who aren't fair.
And then there are times the critic may just not see things,
pay too much attention to certain things and not enjoy the movie,
be biased, be payed to say certain things and ignore others,
might have been feeling ill despite a deadline or something, etc.
In my right mind, I could give a decent analysis as I go.
(Probably watch and enjoy the movie first and then 2nd time, as I go, note down
what I liked and didn't like...shot by shot or at least scene by scene.)
But due to my memory/attention span/desire to actually enjoy the film rather
than pick it apart.....I'd be pretty useless reviewing
a movie as I watch 1st time round. I'd forget lots of things that happened.
Also, sometimes I just can't put in words what I feel about something.
E.g. The Avengers movie -- I couldn't put my finger on
why I thought it was pretty good. It wasn't a masterpiece or anything
that challenged your mind, etc. But I realised simply the fact
the heroes were in the same place, talking to each other, the drama
between them (e.g. the science 'bros' Tony Stark and Bruce Banner)
and the emotions when they were told a certain character died. (Don't want to spoil for those
who haven't seen The Avengers.)
And there are times when even I nitpick.
But not that much. It's only if a shot completely annoys me
to the point I would not buy a physical copy of the DVD or whatever
just because it HAS to play every time I watch it, unless of course I skip it
by fast forwarding.
Sometimes things like major stupidity, grossness, nastiness, (e.g. feeling TOO sorry
for a character because he's killed in a nasty way or has nasty consequences, etc.)
or gore ruins movies for me sometimes.
Like if it were just taken out, I'd give it a much higher score.
You know, the kinda scenes that if they were taken out, the movie
would be closer to your heart...........(well you know what I mean...maybe not that strongly....)
But nitpicking like when some people say "Spider-man 3 was bad because
emo Peter" ....I don't get that.
It was funny. It wasn't gross. It wasn't nasty. It wasn't uncomfortable.
I actually thought the major flaws of Spider-Man 3 instead were things like
a really dark colour palette, Sandman was boring until the end when we finally saw his
rational side, Venom had little screen time, etc.
But the story wasn't bad, not really. I still thought it was good or above.
I think we need more movie discussion threads.
EDIT: Hmmm.....long post, sorry.
