Pikmin is just... fun. - Spoiler:
The story of the first one is Captain Olimar, the only employee with any merit, crash lands on an uncharted planet while on interstellar holiday after crashing into a meteor.
His ship divides into 30 parts (25 are required) and scatters across the 5 areas of the game. When he wakes up, he discovers that his ships is destroyed, so he starts to look around the Impact Site and discovers what he calls Pikmin (After the Pikpik brand carrots he loves so much). He uses these creatures to repair the ship.
If all 30 parts are recovered, there is a little special at the ending cutscene. - Spoiler:
In Pikmin 2, once he returns back to Hocotate Freight, everyone's favourite boss tells him he sent out an enormous loan to pay for the carrots local employee, Louie, was meant to protect. The company is then in debt of 10,100 Pokos and the only thing he had worth selling was Olimar's ship. After finding out the souvenir Olimar brought back was worth 100 Pokos (More than a year's salary), the president orders Olimar and Louie to return to the Pikmin Planet to collect more treasure.
I've only played Pikmin 1, but it makes you want to play the 2nd one as well, kind of. Though Pikmin 2 has Chuggaaconroy's favourite dungeon, the Submerged Castle. The first game may need a bit of practice though cause each day in that game lasts about 15-20 minutes and there are only 30 days before Olimar's life-support system fails. In Pikmin 2, days last almost forever, time is stopped when you go into a dungeon, and you can take as many days as you like. That's pretty much all you need to know. Pikmin is like Marmite; you love it, or you hate it. Though in this case, more people love it that hate it. |
