Cartoons

Cartoons (non-anime, e.g. American CN cartoons) for me, personally.
Never liked anime much, didn't like the style, frame rate, stories, etc.
Might give it a chance another time though.
I was once into Naruto for a couple of episodes or so.
Also, I was slightly into Dragon Ball Z when I was really young but got bored of it
really quickly when I realised the lack of story, too much random fighting, etc.

I used to say that they're really just the same but I know now that they're not.......................and yet they are at the same time.

Yes, they are both catoons for their specific region............but they differ on the subject of maturity.

Western Styled cartoons are usually less mature, designed for kid viewers, and are a tad bit taboo depending on who you talk to. (Some may still feel that older people shouldn't watch cartoons since that is a so-called "child pasttime")

Eastern Styled cartoons usually have a different style from the western styled cartoons (USUALLY is the key word. PSG anyone???) And they deal with or include mature subjects......reguardless IF a particular cartoon IS geared for kids of all ages in the first place.

The thing is, TV regulations are a lot less strict in Japan than it is in most countries. So it stands to reason that their shows/anime/eastern styled cartoons/D: all of the above will have in it Death, divorce, break ups, and whatever else the FCC or any other TV regulation groups will have a fit about.

The drawing style of Eastern styled cartoons/Anime came from a long time ago. The story that was told by my chairman in my department is that way back when, adults wanted a new form of entertainment. This was also done for the children of this age too though.

However,
The problem was is that the adults that wanted to pioneer this unwritten road lacked two things to create stories: a formal Art education and a extensive education in reading.

Most were poor around this time but they wanted to create some sort of medium in which to tell their story, so they did the next best thing: Draw it out.

The characters in their story were mishapened, dispoportioned, and would have Da Vinci roll in his grave. HOWEVER! This unorthodox drawing style caught on and people liked it.


And from that,
The rest is history.


Me? I generally gravitate more towards Anime for the "more-than-kiddie" subjects and humor but I usually watch them both. I'm not an idiotic weeaboo and I have FULL respect for both types of animation.

That is why my top 3 (now 4) show list includes: Generator Rex, Air Gear, Soul Eater, And Recently added Gurren Lagaan.

Cartoons. Mainly because of how weird anime can get. However, if there's one thing anime has taught me, it's not to drink cactus juice.

Just kiddin' lol anime is pretty cool to especially naruto IMO.

Eh, I do watch a little anime like Soul Eater and Wolf's Rain...

but my friend said in schoo-... well i'ma not talk about it..

But the random fighting, random emotion, thats just Japan I guess.

I would pick "both" if you had it...but seeing how you don't, well it's more complicated ...I mean, I love the original CN cartoons, "Dex's Lab", "PPG", "Sam Jack", and of course, "Ed Edd N Eddy", but I'm also a fan of some anime's, like "Medabots", and "Samurai Seven", so yeah..but seeing how I've watched more cartoons, than animes, I say cartoons...it's just majority wise

Cartoons is a definite wiinner for me Anime appeals to me as being overdramatic idk Like their voices their fighting etc..

I do have to say, that IS kinda annoying when some Animes take themselves WAYYYY TOO SERIOUSLY. Especially if its a goofy concept.

Case and point: Yu-Gi-Oh!

It started off as a....feesible Idea but as soon as it beguan to progress, it became more ludicrous. Granted, yes I still watched it..............but it took it'self WAY too seriously especially for what the show had in it.


And THAT is why I LOVE the Abridged Series.

They practically take everything that the show is about and jabs fun at it. But yeah. Yu-Gi-Oh! Is one. There are plenty others that do the same thing.

I prefer Anime, mostly because it is more mature and all these cartoons on Nick and Cartoonnetwork make me lose faith in humanity
