Man, I love that movie!
In response to Oliver saying he liked Scooby Doo The Movie 2...
I didn't like the proper movies that much. (1 and 2.) I still enjoy them to an extent though. I mean, they're not THAT bad (certainly better than no Scooby movies at all) but...they kinda took away SOME of the heart and soul of the cartoons. Maybe I'm just blinded by nostalgia, I don't know.
Scooby wasn't as innocent as he was in the cartoons, Daphne seemed to be miscast (no offense to the actress of course but she didn't fit the role in my opinion, she wasn't THAT bad in the role but they could have found a better match. Nothing to do with her acting talent, just purely a bad casting decision in my opinion anyway.) Kinda reminds me of the What's New Scooby Doo cartoons, which the majority that I remember watching, I found were awful compared to the old originals. I can't quite put my finger on it, why it was nowhere near as good...One bad thing was that Daphne was SOOOOOO obsessed with fashion and stuff and it just wasn't funny or necessary and a bit repetitive... And annoying. Kinda made her more shallow too. There's something in the art work that I didn't like. Technically the art work is very good but I dunno...Maybe it's the thickness of the outlines? Variety of colours? Brightness of the colour palette...I dunno. The stories weren't that interesting to me either. Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated (the newer cartoon) was better in my opinion in most aspects but with a few flaws I can't really identify at the moment. Sometimes I'm just not good with technical critical cartoon analysis.
Anyway back to the Movie version: They also made Fred VERY VERY shallow. They OBLITERATED Scrappy's loveable character. They made him evil...no one expected that. Kinda ruins the view of the Scooby and Scrappy show. Also would have been nice to include Scooby Dum.
Did anyone else think it was weird most villains were fake yet there was no explanation for the real monsters in Scooby Doo The Movie 1? I've seen the movie lots of times but I just didn't understand why there was a lack of explanation for that. Plus I've forgotten a lot of the sequel and even the first movie despite seeing it many many times on video/DVD. (I THINK the second movie had real monsters too.)
Velma was ok but very slightly didn't fit the cartoon Velma. (Mystery Begins portrayed her better in my opinion, can't explain why really. The nerdy but cool aspect was there I guess.) Shaggy's portrayal was almost perfect except for the fact that he would PUNCH Scooby Doo! The Spooky Island concept was meh aswell. Especially for a first movie.
It should have probably been an origins kinda movie, showing the beginning of Mystery Inc. I really liked some aspects though, like Rowan Atkinson's acting, the comedy in the film, Scooby Doo's funny attitude towards food, that scene near the end involving chilli peppers, etc. Also, I like the part in the beginning where Scooby says 'What now Raggy?' You know, that part...and the part after where for 2 years, Shaggy and Scooby live in the Mystery Machine, eating burgers and stuff... xD
I have Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins on DVD and when I bought it I was thinking... "I doubt this will be a good movie...probably like a bad TV show or somethin'..."
But I was wrong! I liked it! I personally prefer it to the old 'proper' theatrical movies. (Scooby Doo the movie 1 and 2.) Haven't seen Scooby Doo: Curse Of The Lockness Monster yet though. (Apparently not as good as The Mystery Begins but I can't really comment since I haven't seen it. It's subjective so...you know.)
So what's your opinion on the movies? Which were the best?
Anyway, here's a clip of Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins (The actor acting Shaggy is very good. As are other actors/actresses.)

Funny how just one comment can make X make the largest post ever.
I always preferred the 2nd one to the 1st. It was just better! I don't know why, but I guess it's cause it had the Miner 49'er. I always loved that episode! It was also one of the rarest episodes. Same reason goes to why I always loved the Ghost of Captain Moody and the 10,000 Volt Ghost.
Wow. I haven't watched Scooby since last year and I remember most of the villains already.
As for the other two, I haven't seen them, but I don't like them anyway. The cast just didn't look right. And I always preferred the real Scooby to the CGI version. So I wish they kept the original cast.
As for the shows. Mystery Incorporated, I didn't like it THAT much, but it is pretty good. I like how the museum is like that from Scooby-Doo 2. AND it had that Clown Ghost from the 1st movie in it. I also like that Shaggy in that show is played by Matthew Lillard, the guy who played Shaggy in the first two movies.
I also remember Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue. I loved that as a kid! But then we switched to BT (Either that, or it got cancelled), so I never got to watch the finale.

That was the Cotton Candy Blob. In the 2nd movie. I'm not sure which part was my favourite. I guess all of it?
