| Ok this is kinda just for fun since I don't think we'll get a decent conclusion. This thread is aimed at obtaining research into what causes 'luck' in grinding for ultra rare items or white/gold crates. Why is it that some people get tonnes of gold crates and some never get them for hours? That kinda stuff. I think it probably varies due to my experiments a few years ago. Ok let's start with a correlation between age and ultra rare crate/item frequency while assuming age correlates with skill. (Obviously won't be the case all the time but generally this could be a sensible assumption.)
My hypothesis: probably generally, younger players (most likely less skilled) may fight more generically, simply and have weaker armour and this may cause a high frequency of gold crates or ultra rares.
Reason for this: my experiments (though they were long ago but maybe the algorithm is still similar) showed that weaker melee attacks brought more gold crates than powerful guns. This consistent-ish pattern declined at a point though.
I also experimented with camera angles, zoom levels, intervals of attacks, etc. But we'll get to those maybe later.
I'm 17 but last time I grinded I was probably like 15 or 16 and I was FAIRLY lucky but not really. Just a few ultra rares once in a long while. I would not consider myself lucky on the grinding field. I wore strong armour and used powerful guns.
I fought sort of erratically and unpredictably with camera shaking, sword swinging, shooting while running in circles, jumping, going back and forth like I was fencing. (I have fenced once lol. Was pretty good, beat both my opponents. One of them even asked if I had done fencing before...lol nope. )
How about you people? How old are you, how do you fight, what armour/weapons do you use and how lucky are you? If you don't want to give your age, you can state e.g. 'mid teen', 'late teen', 'young adult', etc.

| I use shatterguns ,wear my most powerful armor (of course),and I usually grind for 2 hours unless I really want a certain ultra rare I usually invest a couple more hours into doing so for some reason when I constantly check my inventory to see what crate I get i always receive a whole inventory full of standard and special crates, but when i don't open my inventory until i finish grinding i receive a good amount of sooper and sooper dooper crates its weird but thats just me and my luck |

| I was told that if a lower level player defeated a higher level monster, then the player's chances would be greater for getting a gold or silver, can someone confirm? |

| That's a lie. When you're lower leveled, the item drop rate decreases.
I should know, I grind for hours. |

| Yep undy But yeah I am 15 and I have never grinder for anything in fusionfall Maybe like once or twice for ehd pants with red but other than that I get ultra rares from random monster defeats during the actual story line I can't answer honestly for how I play because in a way once you play cod you kinda get good at ff. That now lead to my hypo that cod makes a fusionfall player better. Mainly shooters that also include BF3 etc but there is also a decent set of action games that helps. And dragoon before you say anything this is my own personal opinion not yours. Age is also a huge factor. I found when grinding with red having a nano helped me get more orange crates. Most younger players don't know how to strategize with nanos. Now maybe if you was to go out there with no nanos your chances may increase. |

| I find that defeating monsters with nanos gives a slight crate drop increment. Though not sure. I also found interesting that when grinding monsters that pair up in 3, using a single shot weapon rather than a group one and killing them one by one, crates seemed to drop more often.
I still haven't figured out a pattern in rarity drops. Sometimes I feel like killing a random monster on my way to a mision, and more than once, the single monster I kill drops a rare crate. |

| It's the opposite for me. If i take them all out with a shattergun, at least 2/3 of them will drop a decent c.r.a.t.e. Also, anytime i want an ultra rare, i level at least 3 levels over the item, get the best armor and 'rifle' weapon and then i grind. For me it seems faster and easier. But i rarely ever grind anyway. - Dr.Snake wrote:

Thanks! Should save me some time then. |

| Yeah, I noticed that crates drop easier when you're higher level, though rarest items are often prominent when you're in the same level as the monsters. |

no, but it certainly makes the grinding go by faster |

| But, the time you gain killing, isn't it wasted or invested equally by the waiting respawn time? |

there;s too many enemies to not have a fresh supply within a few seconds, spawns are also somewhat fast |

I read that too but it seems it doesn't work all the time. Who are the most successful grinders here? Items that you've traded your way to doesn't count. Maybe we can find some kind of correlation. -Time Zone. -Age. (Thus experience possibly.) -Time intervals. (Method of defeating enemies. How long you wait until the next monster defeat, etc.) I'm pretty sure that generally, NOT opening your inventory for a while will get you a LOT more good crates than if you check them one by one as you go, as someone said. As for the nano thing, I think using a good combination (tick shows, meaning you're following the C beats A, A beats B, B beats C rule.) rather than not using any at all or using a bad combination. For me, if I remember correctly, using bad nano combinations really decreased my luck dramatically. |

I've heard that as well, i think it does work, i tried it and i always get 3 or 4 silver in a fraction of my inventory. I also don't use my nanos unless I'm out of combat or i really need healing. But i never tested it against the circumstance of crate drop chance. I could be wrong about the nanos sequence though. |

| I consistently kept 4 slots free of items only while grinding. Grinded until my inventory is full, got all 3 times I checked 1 silver and the rest black. |

| I discovered, while maybe it wasn't always consistent, that weapon boosts help or rather improve drop rate frequency. |
