Same here! I used to play it every morning as a kid! Which was back when I used to wake up in the morning.  Though I never finished it.

i sold that game a while back, i didn't play it anymore because it was so impossibly difficult

then there was that awkward moment when my best guyfriend told me he used to pretend he was sonic and would run around the house with socks on his hands for gloves... LOL it's meant to be xD hahaha

You'll get used to it. It was only recently when I realized I was older than I thought I was when I played on my sister's Gamecube. I thought I was 4. Turns out I was about 6 or 7.

I would've found that tough to get out of.  I mean, I'm sure I would've gotten out eventually, but not without getting rid of the wall in the middle.
