Anime is what you would call, the signature drawing style of Japanimation.

It's much more harder to define than that but for the sake of time I'll try to shorten it as much as possible.

Anime originated A LONG TIME AGO in Japan. Influenced by American cartoons, most notably Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Japan artists were inspired to create something like this Disney wonder.
So this "Japanimation" ACTUALLY started off as Manga at first. These Black and white comics usually consisted of humans with misproportioned legs, eyes, among other features. Now this part was told to me by my Chairman of my Department (yeah, we actually talked about random stuff like this) but I was told that this was due to the artist being too poor at the time to afford proper drawing lessons so they drew it the best they could. Eventually, the style took on a life of its own and eventually they began to make animated shows with their signature style.

Becoming big with shows like Astro Boy, Sailor Moon, Voltron, and many others, it made its way across the seas and into America and many other nations where it only got bigger and bigger.
And that's the short history lesson.

For those still not sure what shows are anime compared to what is "not" anime here is a list of examples:

Anime Shows
-Bakugan
-Yu-Gi-Oh! ZeXal

-Monsuno
-Avatar
(I like to point out that for me Avatar IS AN ANIME! I characterize an anime NOT ENTIRELY where it comes from, but more of the drawing style it uses. that's the style that they were aiming for and worked hard to achieve so that's what i'm gonna call it!)
-Naruto
-Fairy Tale

Non-Anime Shows

-SymBiotic Titan. (This is INSTEAD a classic AMERICAN animation style.)
-MegasXLR (This show may consist of the Cell Shading style but that's all it is.)
-............well. Everything else really......




My All-time favorite shows are:
Air Gear

Soul Eater

Pokemon
Only up to the Hoenn Region. Johto was EVERYONE'S favorite region.

Digimon
Wish I could have kept up with it more though

Sgt. Frog (This show is addicting I swear. You cant just watch JUST ONE EPISODE.)

My newest favorite
Fairy Tale
(after a while, It's like DragonBall Z..........with Wizards!)

Ehh I watch Deadman Wonderland, Witch Hunter, Naruto Shippuden, Psycho Busters, Saiyuki (all series, favorite is Gaiden), Needless, Supernatural Investigasion Department(korean manhwa) and lastly Fairy Tail.

I've watched over hundreds of manga and anime's but those are the main and top favorite ones..
