I don't agree with that, the truth can hurt only if the person wants it to hurt.... but if you don't want it to hurt then change it to a kinder and peaceful truth.

For example instead of the truth you told to me, you could say like *You made a bad offer danny (no offense).... you bought the set for a too high price than it should be.... but well it's your decisions not mine...*

That's a truth as same as the one you told me , but it's more kindly made to not hurt or create anger as the truth you told me did.

So please don't find such sayings which are completely surrealistic.
