I just got done cleaning up this Logo. I'll Send you the CLEAN PNG of it X.

It is 14in by 5in at 150 Res.

Feel free to use the one that I send you in a PM as you please. I got to change up my site as well and I figured you could use a large clean FusionFall logo as well. Its size should give you alot of room for plenty of customization.

(P.S: Didnt mean for it to be so big on the Forums. I thought it would have re-sized it.... lol! )

Thank you very much Undelos!
Where did you get the logo in that huge size?
Also, do you plan to use it for your website? (maybe involved in a redesign?)
What do you mean you changed up your site?
Shocked are you going to redecorate? Very Happy
If so and if you need any assistance with graphics, ideas for your website, design concepts, promotion,

Where did I get a Logo that big???
Present for you Dragonspif
Most of this was due to my own awesomeness.

You know that fansite ZIP file that CN offers on the FusionFall Site? Well inside you will find two pictures that has Fusion Fall's logo wrapped around the "Green Goo." I preferr to call it Green Biohazard but I guess that will have to just catch on later. Anyways, There is one that has a White Background and a Black Background. I decided to clean up the Black one since the White one had a Black drop shadow that would have made me Raege=====> Mad

The one with the Black Background was easier to clean up and had the fewest issues with it.

In not so many words:

- I cut out the letters
- Covered up the Bio on the "F" and "L"
- Increased the resolution of the picture; thus increasing its size.

FYI: Increasing the Resolution versus just increasing the picture's size Increases the picture's size all while making sure that there is no Pixelation problem

- Made a JPEG version and a PNG Version.

The picture was originally never that big at all. In fact, I believe it was barely a quarter of the Re rendered version so I hope that the one I sent you should give you tons of room for custiomization. And Yes. I plan to change my site up soon as well.

PostSubject: Re: Present for you   Present for you EmptyFri Nov 11, 2011 7:41 pm

I just wondered where you got it that size since there was no pixelation and an unnoticeable amount of blurriness
which is unusual when resizing an image.
What do you mean you resized the resolution instead of just resizing the image?
What's the difference?
Sorry I don't use Photoshop as much as Gimp and so maybe I'm missing something, maybe photoshop resizes images much better than gimp?
How do you change the resolution? (I thought if you resize the image, you resize the resolution too Question )

I don't see any use for it for my site right now but thanks any way, it may one day become useful Smile

Sorry for the late response but I made one right after you made this message but I lost connection and everything I typed. And I typed alot.

Anyways,

GIMP can do about the same ammount of stuff that PS can do. I can tell you that GIMP can do that As well. Its just that I'm used to PS's Interface and I wouldn't know where to tell you go to do the same in GIMP.

I have a feeling that you may know some or most of the following but I'll cover everything that I want to explain that way you wont miss anything.

You know those pictures that you find on the internet that are usually pixelated? Those pictures simply were smaller but someone increased their "Picture Size" They used to be smaller but when you increase the size of a picture; say, the size of a Business card and you want to make that picture as big as a regular peice of paper, this creates Pixelation.
Pixelation simply means that there is not enough color information for the computer to interpret how the image is supposed to look like.

Now, Some of this you may already know but I'll just cover everything that way I know that you will have a general knowlege about this. Now understand, I may not have this explained 100% and may misexplain some of this but I am 98% sure of everything that I say.

Here.

I made this picture The day you asked to help explain this.

Present for you FusionFallLogoEXample2

If you notice the zoomed in picture on the left, you can see in this square area that the picture is very smooth, even for the fact that is super zoomed in. This is because in this given square area there is ALOT pixels. And with this there is ALOT of color information. With so much color information, the computer can manipulate and resize this image with no issue and no obvious Pixelation. Now be warned, no matter how big a picture is, it still has its limits on resizing. (Except for vector images. But that’s a story for another day…..)

Now if you notice the right picture, the picture is very pixelated. That is because in this given square area there is not alot of pixels, Therefore there is a lack of Color information that the computer can interpret from.

Increasing the resolution is a bit more Advantageous than just simply increasing the picture size. This increases the color information for computer interpretation and also gives you more room for resizing.
Note: Increase the size little by little if you must. This way you can see how large you can make the image before the resolution starts to break and it starts to pixelate. You dont HAVE to make it as big as possible. It should be just big enough for you to use for any idea that you have.

I hope I (re)Explained everything!

PostSubject: Re: Present for you   Present for you EmptyMon Nov 21, 2011 7:27 pm

I hate to break this to you as you've written A LOT Sad (thanks though buddy Smile)
and I understand the point you made about me probably already knowing this but...
I understand the concept and how it works (sort of) but
I just wanted to know how I would actually do it in graphics software?
In Photoshop, I believe you have to convert an image to a smart object and then resize it.
I'm guessing this is the 'BAD' way of doing it yA?
so how would I resize the resolution as opposed to resizing the image size itself?

BTW, the pixelated/blurry section was probably ruined when converted into a JPEG image format (due to it's very high compression rate) and the PNG
format doesn't have it as bad, (it's almost as good as a raw image file or PSD photoshop project file or what I use, XCF file which is Gimp's version of PSD) nonetheless the problem still persists to an extent.
Please explain how to resize the resolution. (short quick steps please Very Happy)
Thanks.

Not sure about GIMP. I'll answer your question by asking you one, do you know what a Vector image and a Raster Graphic is?

Yeah, vector images lose a lot less quality than raster graphics, even when resized. (such as bitmap and especially JPEG - it's to do with pixels)
So....I have to convert the image to a vector?? (which is like 99% of the time raster rather than vector Surprised)

Your right about one thing, Vectors DONT lose Resolution. But to be more specific.......vectors dont have "resolution" at all.

Vector Graphics and Raster Graphics are different. Raster Graphics as we all know are based on pixels and whutknot. Vectors are a different story. Again, I'll try to explain this the best way possible.

A Raster image of a single line is made with pixels. However, a Vector of the same image is
formed with an Algorithm.

The computer computes each curve and color in a series of numbers and equations, not by its visual data. So in turn, You can take a Vector image that is as big as a business card and scale it to put on the side of your house because the computer scales it based on the vector's algorithm data.

As far as SMART OBJECTS in Photoshop:

I dont really put too much trust in them. Yes when I have a Logo or image that I know I might re scale I do change it to a SMART OBJECT. You can use them if you want because they ARE reliable for keeping the image from Pixelating. However I have had images lose Resolution even though they were a SMART OBJECT.
Remenber! It was originally a Raster Graphic to begin with so I have learned that even though changing it into a Vector, SMART OBJECTS have their limits.

Resizing things in GIMP:

I just downloaded and installed GIMP to see if I could find out how to do it.

Present for you PictureResolution

1.) At the top, find "Image."

2.) Click it and scroll down until you get to "Scale Image"

Notice the arrow pointing to the X and Y Resolution? If you look to the right, you'll notice that the resolution is "locked" Meaning if you change one, you change both.

3.) Simply change the resolution to another number. You can press enter if you want.

I use this method all the time,
I thought this way was Gimp's version of 'smart objects' because it's still just resizing the image!!???

Ok, maybe it would be more clear if you explain the incorrect way of resizing it via Gimp.
Thanks.

Wouldn't know............since everything I see in GIMP is the wrong way! lol!

I'm not used to the interface or really how it works so I have to basically go on what I know from Ps. I trust that if you increase the resolution by changing those numbers, that it does INDEED get bigger. Photoshop goes one step further and makes the picture on the screen bigger when you change the resolution...........showing you that it....well....got bigger.

GIMP doesnt make the picture bigger so yeah. Just got to trust that GIMP does increase the dpi.

sucks...
