I always make a valid point. *Especially during insults.*
Or has Hollywood brainwashed you into thinking everything means U.S.A.
Just kidding, I understand how you could have made that assumption.
I looked it up months ago and it seems not to mean just the U.S.
Propaganda did it.
And cowboy films.
But seriously..although the U.S. diet is ESPECIALLY bad (I at least mean what the U.S. government
allows to be sold within its borders)....I wasn't actually referring to just U.S. diets.
I was gonna post a long post but instead I'll just say:
-Western seems to have a blurry definition with semantic technicalities, exclusions and exceptions,
including factors such as culture AND geographic residence.
-Most likely means Canada, U.S.A., UK, Europe (at least most of it but it's a blurry definition anyway) Australia,
and even some east Asian countries. (Although Japan has eastern and western societal characteristics
for example so that's why this definition stinks. So much subjectivity and exceptions.)
-Africa isn't considered western despite a similar geographic location to Europe.
-Australia is all the way to the east, but is considered western. (In culture.)
-And anyway, some regions may fit eastern or western criteria within a country.
-Also....what the heck even is eastern and western??
It seems like just another 'us and them' divisive thing as well as the fact that
it's very reductionist. Could also become an offensive topic with stereotypes lol.
So.....yeah I did say this was a pointless topic. :/
EDIT: Apologies. This wasn't the thread to be talking about the east/west thing.
I feel somewhat disrespectful.
But yeah, I didn't mean to hijack the thread.
