Just making this thread for those who would benefit from it.
[Mostly just people who might want a few free
PC games and don't mind the Ubisoft client.]

A couple of weeks ago or so, Humble Bundle was giving away free
Steam keys for Dirt 3, within a 2 day time window.

Expired now but the good news is
Ubisoft has a free game to give away every month
on their Ubisoft client.

You just need to login/make an account and
redeem whatever comes up every month.
(The 15th of each month? I'm not sure.)

Right now, the free game of the month is Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

But ON TOP of that,
Ubisoft is also doing a "30 days" thing where
you can also redeem free things like
wallpapers, GIFs, video games, recipes, etc.
ya know....for Christmas, and to further celebrate their 30th anniversary.
Every day, you can check what the next giveaway is
on their digital advent calender thing until the 23rd of December I think.
Not every day will be a game, some days
it's wallpapers, etc...

According to people on Reddit who used the "inspect element"
browser function,
it is expected that: (unless Ubisoft switches things up a bit)

-7th December - Assassin's Creed 3

-15th December - Prince of Persia (Sands of Time?)

-16th December - Rayman (Legends?)

-17th December - Splinter Cell 1

-18th December - The Crew

Looking forward to The Crew....I tend to like racing games.
But I'll give those other games a go as well,
even though I don't really like Assassin's Creed
or the Ubisoft client.

BTW, I don't know if there's a catch with
using the Ubisoft launcher. (I mean, it's a reputable game developer
company but....)
I know EA's Origin client is a bit dodgy
and has a controversial reputation with how they
access peoples' computers (or something like that)
but it's the only way I know of, to play BF3.

If anyone knows of any moral/security reasons to stop
using the Ubisoft client, let me know.

For now, it seems like a generous thing Ubisoft is doing.


I guess if anyone has any info on free promotions
they'd like to share here, they're welcome to.
(I don't really consider this advertising....but I wonder when the line should
be drawn lol....free games don't seem like advertising to me but I dunno...)

I tell people about this kinda stuff
because it's the kinda thing I would like
others to inform me about, in case I'm interested in a certain
free game or whatever.

I think an interesting tip in finding
free game promotions,
is to type in Google
"free pc game" and click News
to see if there's any recent articles
because sometimes promotions are reported by tech/gaming
article websites and such.

The only thing I have against EA is the fact my computer has something against it. It's really slow and I just wanna play Sims 4.

Well some games are 15+, 18+, wrongly rated, (too lenient for example), etc.

With the EA thing, I do suspect Origins wastes resources
(cough cough looking through computer files, cough cough )

but have you checked if you have other programs running at the same time?
Startup programs can slow down your system greatly.

Hold press the start button and the R button
(then let go) and in the Run box, type in

msconfig

Hit enter and then click the startup tab
and uncheck stuff that you don't need to
start up automatically when your computer starts up.

For me personally, I unchecked everything and I think
it's safe to do that, even with your anti-virus software,
but if you're worried, then just uncheck the stuff that
really doesn't need to automatically start when turning on your PC.

Assassin's Creed 3 became available to redeem for free today.
I redeemed it, but there were server problems initially.

Not an Assassin's Creed fan, especially not the 3rd one
which seems really unfairly anti-British, at least judging by the trailer...
But maybe I'll be bored one day and give it a go
and enjoy the mechanics or graphics or something.

The game after that (probably on the 15th)
will probably be a Prince Of Persia game.
(Not really a fan but I'm redeeming everything just in case.)

Looking forward to The Crew even though it doesn't have
particularly high reviews....
(Like 6/10ish ....oh well, it still looks decent. )

I'm guessing AC3 can be redeemed within a time window
of a month since it's on the Ubisoft monthly game giveaway thing ("Ubisoft Club") too.

But games after AC3, will probably either be redeemable
for only the day it was released on, or until the "Ubisoft 30 days of Giveaways"
advent calendar promotion stops (I think it ends on the 23rd of December).

I've always wanted the 4th game; Black Flag. Because, well... pirates. Plus, it's an open-world game from what I've heard, and I just love open-world games like the Xenoblade Chronicles games, Skyrim (can't say the same for the other ES games as I've never played them) and of course, FusionFall.

Back to the pirate theme, I used to always play Pirates of the Caribbean Online (along with FusionFall and ToonTown), so yeah. I'm just glad that AC4 is on Wii U.

Cross-platform gaming and communication would be pretty cool.
Then Hom could contact us from above  while
on his busy godly schedule of PS4 gaming
and sometimes mafia fights.  


FusionFall on consoles would be pretty awesome too.

So I created a Ubisoft account just to see what would be in this advent calendar and the 1st thing was Rayman Classic on mobile.

I already have it on PS1.

Me too.   (Rayman 1 is the same as Rayman Classic, no?)
Although you could also play the game on PC
with a PS1 emulator.
The mobile version has adverts though.

That's way better than a mobile game with adverts.

Also, most days can be opened on the calendar,
only a few are still locked.
Many are just wallpapers and stuff, (still might interest you, I dunno)
but there are games too, unless they expired?

And why yes, I did. I got it just in time. I thought it would end at 5am and I got it at 3am. Right now though, I was only just interested in AC3. I haven't gotten round to playing it yet though.

On a side note: I noticed Xtreme got it's annual site update.
