You ARE an artist. Don't sell yourself short.


You wouldn't BELIEVE how MANY people tell me that after they see my art, all they can draw is a stick figure. Of course, they were usually just kidding but that's beside the point.

Most of the people that have seen my art, dont even have at least YOUR skill level Grumpy.
Good artists are hard to come by. I've noticed some things about your art. The lines may look a bit hashed and etchy............BUT! You DO place them correctly.

Say for instance when you go to make an arm in a certain pose, I've noticed you DO know where you want to place that arm and how you want the pose to come out, reguardless of whether it ends up looking like it or not. Some poses that you have done, they are not just easily done, even by me. For those particular poses like the Pandora Hearts picture you made, You have to literally sit down and give it thought on how the person is going to look on paper.
And that's something that very few know how to do.
So, It's NOT like you dont have the knack for it.

If anything, I guess the etchy lines that are on your finished works betray your true skill level.

You should see my work when I'm just doing a rough draft. IT LOOKS TERRIBLE!

I may guiltily enjoy showing off, but I hide my rough drafts from ANYONE passing by. I couldn't stand it if someone were to come by and see this really ## picture I'm working on and I'd have to deal with my fear of explaining to them what the heck this ## is on my paper.
So it's not like I'm perfect.

I just take a while to make it good.


So, dont ever sell yourself short.

If you still dont believe me, start working on your best pieces in public. YOUR BEST STUFF. Those that stop by and notice your art will be amazed. And I bet you by the 3rd person, you would have heard the Failure-To-Draw-Anything-But-A-Stickfigure speech by then.

Undelos it basically sounds like you're a perfectionist.

Well can't say i blame you, everyone i know puts all their effort into their work.

But you just can't help putting it out for everyone until you know it's ready and nothing terrible is in it's presence.

Not saying that's a bad thing in fact, it's common.

Now, Grumpy probably takes his time, thinks while he goes along, and let's his ideas flow into his art.

It's a bit hard to believe you're not an artist. I think you'd fit that job perfectly.

Well from what i learned, (If im correct) old artist such as Picaso became discovered..after the died.

So i guess it's going to be difficult doing that considering im not that talented.

But a cartoonist is pretty much as closest as it gets to practically doing nothing but creating a skit.

This also meant they barely ate.

Hence the name "Starving" Artist.

Saying you're an artist nowadays, for me, is simply just a title of the chosen hobby that you divulge in.
Now whether other people think that I am stupid enough to think that I can just make pictures and sell them to earn a complete, COMFORTABLE living..............then that's their loss.

Well shucks thnx Unde yeh I get what you mean, I think the lines is because instead of tracing it slowly on my computer I just rush it by using a magic wand tool lol, yeh I had like 1,000 drawings made before I actually got any good at it lol, mostly it would look like buff stick people then I got good at drawing animals and pokemon and then woosh I went for the big picture. a year of failing at the placement even when I looked for pictures of the pose I wanted, lately in my recent drawngs I was able to pull it off without looking for someone doing the pose,

and @Dhorror I rush like crazy man you have no idea lol, one day rush kind of situation, but yeh who doesnt like giving their all in things like their drawings, videos, singing, or whatever the person does lol
