| How would I go about describing what happened with my Laptop? Is it funny, sad, impressive, not bad, the worst or something completely different all together?
I think I saw a discussion on here about Video Cards. Well Let me lay this one on you:
I burnt out my NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500M Video Card playing FusionFall.
Its only a mild shock............until you see the price for a new one of these monsters.

| Well, when i play Assassin's Creed 2, It crashes my laptop's graphics card occasionally (Ati Radeon Mobility HD5650) but I'm almost 100% sure it's cause of my very bad fan air flow (i use a basic cooling system - a small stand ) However, this usually only happens when my power plan is on Gaming Mode or High Performance and if I play for over 2 hours or something. (When i switch to power save mode it doesn't usually happen, it uses less energy from my power supply. (obviously more energy equels more heat ) So i recommend: 1. First check that it's ABSOLUTELY cooked for good, you really don't want to spend money on these things. (check safely, ask for assistance from an expert or adult or someone and be sure to be aware of health and safety risks e.g. static shocks and normal electric shocks, definitely unplug the battery and power cord first! I'm not responsible for any loss!!!!! ) 2. if it's cooked and dead forever, then try to look for a low budget card (depending on your budget) I know that Layla Roscoewick has had a similar problem. His decent graphics card got fried probably cause of circulation in his room. So he had to get a quick integrated graphics card replacement and now even fusionfall doesn't display correctly 3. Seriously, after what happened make sure you have good circulation! If it's not dead, consider yourself lucky! They can be revived if they aren't physically harmed! Sorry for the Xtremely long reply Hope this helps so far. Probably didn't |

| Hi Undelos!
You may be on to something however I don't think it's your motherboard. Even the most awesome of laptops fail when overheating. To fix your problem follow these steps:1. Clean out the dust from your laptop fan if possible. (Using a brush or ear bud or compressed air or at the very least just try to blow out the dust) Trust me, the laptop is almost like new after those pesky dust particles are removed, if you have heard weird fan noises then it's almost 100% likely it's dust (or could be loose bearings or bolts in the fan however that's less likely especially if it's a new laptop) 2. Get a stand or cooling pad or if money is a problem or hassle, just get anything you can from the house to make a stand but don't block the air ways. Just put a thick book at the top and bottom side of your laptop. (thicker book for the top part) I recommend atleast 2 inches thick books especially if you're into occasional serious gaming although I think my stand is 3 or 4 inches off the table o_O Don't let the book block the fan. 3. Updating your graphics card usually allows it to perform better and fix bugs.
4. Having a low amount of RAM can greatly reduce the time period you can do things for before your laptop goes slow and you need to restart your computer to 'empty' the used memory. (I'm guessing you have a fair amount especially for fusionfall since your graphics card is of mid range gaming standard)
5. Your fans may just be stubborn and something software related (possibly the BIOS?) is preventing your fans from using more cpu power for cooling, try using a program called 'SpeedFan' it allows you to adjust your fan speed however keep in mind that if your gaming, less cpu power is used for your game...but...better than it over heating your laptop right?
Then your laptop should be cool enough to play games and stuff for atleast an hour or 2 |

| The Memory isn't a problem. My M90 is a Core 2 Duo© with 3 GB of Ram. I have actually had the computer blown out for dust but it still heats up.
I'll check out Speed Fan though. I just downloaded it now. |

| To fix your problem, all you need to do is get a taller stand and try out SpeedFan then you should be good to go! When i take off my fairly tall stand, my laptop really really over heats (it's a powerhouse, the graphics card is a demon :O) but with this stand it manages very well. It's no water cooling substitute but it's good enough for me ^^ for now... it's not that good although if it was taller it would be a lot faster maybe. |
