heres one reason:

You cannot spell Magikarp without Magik. Magic in Magikarp’s sense is spelled with a “k” which means he is so awesome that he doesn’t need to follow the literary guidelines. On top of that fact, he has whiskers that look like a mustache, and as we all know facial hair on anything always make it look way more intimidating! If I could grow a mustache that looked like Magikarp’s, then you know I would bust that out in two seconds for the following reasons: 1. I would look like a genuine bad-##; 2. So many chicks would want to hook-up with me that it wouldn’t even be funny.

Magikarp is not useless.
If trained well, he can sweep an entire team possibly with legendaries (check some YouTube videos on that).

Well... yeah. He can learn Tackle. I find it best to leave it at the Day Care than to leave it at the top of your party.

You don't know Magikarp's full potential. He can learn Splash, Tackle, and Flail (one of the most OP moves). In Gen 5, he can learn Bounce from a move tutor (making him even more OP).

My Magikarp only learned Splash and Tackle. Well, I started a new game, so maybe this time.

Thats because Magikarp learns Tackle at level 15 yet evolves at level 20 so yeah unless you didnt evolve him thats why.

Okay, Magikarp is not good for non-competitive gameplay. Did you watch the video?

I think we're talking about Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. That's the only Pokemon game I've got.

Like I said, he's useful in competitive play. Going through to the Elite Four, not as useful (Magikarp learns Flail at level 30).
