They grabbed me and my sister and took us towards the general. We started to struggle free. Apparently one of the guards knew about the weak point on my neck and pressed their finger there. My body went limp. I couldnt feel anything. I saw the figure in the distance which was no doubt Nicklous. My eyes widened. He met the guards half way. "good job, boys. Ill take it from here." The guards nodded and dropped us on our knees in front of Nicklous. I kept my head down. I couldnt look at him. Not yet. Once the guards were out of ear shot, Nicklous spoke up. "well it took you long enough to escape. I figured that once they started testing you, Aurora, youd have run away."My sister scoffed. "Like you wouldve helped us." He shook his head. "You just dont get it, do you? Igave you those items that one night because I wanted you to escape, I wanted you to be safe. Aurora gave her life to save me already once, I am going to return the favor this time. I will help you get out of the city. But for right now you need to pretend Im taking you back to the palace." He explained. I looked up at him. He smiled weakly at me. "Its a sad thing you dont remember. I wish you did, but I guess I have to wait until you do." I was lost. What was he talking about? All of this was to much for me to handle. Then I saw something in the back of my mind. A young girl, risking her life to get in the way of a blade headed for a boy. The boy had.... grey eyes. Just like Nicklous' eyes. And the girls charm bracelet was the same as the one on my wrist minus one charm. "Samuel" I whispered. Nicklous heard me and smiled. He nodded. "Apparently I dont have to wait long" He motioned for me to give him my hands. I lifted my hands and he took out a rope. He tied my hands together, then did the same to my sister. "Hey, whats this about?" My sister exclaimed. "Your a prisoner, remember?" Nicklous said. I laughed a little and he smiled. Jennifer shook her head. "whatever." Nicklous led us down the street back towards the palace. My eyes widened. "Nicklous? What are you doing?!" He turned and faced me, a wicked smile on his face. "Turning you in. It is my job, of course." He played me the whole time. He wasnt really trying to help us, he was trying to help himself. I began to drag my feet. Nicklous turned to me and walked over. He leaned close to my face. "Dont even try it, Aurora. I can easily take your sisters life right now on this very spot." I looked into his eyes and saw something. Apology. He was.... acting? I looked around and noticed guards everywhere. He turned and dragged me and Jennifer in through the doors. He went back down to the prison and put us in cells. Before he locked my cell, he dropped a note. I looked at him. He nodded and smiled a small smile. When he closed the big metal door, I opened the note. I read over it and smiled. "Aurora" Jennifer said. "What does it say?" I began to read it to her. "It says, 'In three days, at exactly midnight, there will be someone to come and unlock your cell door. When they do, your going to quietly run out and take the right turn. I know you are unfamiliar with this hall, which is why I will be waiting half way in the hall. When you reach the half point, you will say right turns, and I will come out. Once I come out, just follow me and I will guide you to the secret exit that I had installed. You will then run through the passage until you reach the vent. Knock three times on it and it will open. Once your out, I regret to say, you are on your own. Hope you make it out safely. Beware my father and his friends trials until then. Safe journey, Nicklous." I put the letter down and brought my knees up to my chest. Jennifer scoffed. "thats all a lie. Dont tell me you actually beleive it. If anything I think if we had stayed with Marcus, we wouldnt be here now." She went on and on about what we should have done. I eventually passed out, wondering how long it would seem for three days to pass.
